The question that garnered the most interest from the overflow crowd of producers, lenders and economists dealt with when Congress might pass the 2023 Farm Bill. Young said the current bill is set to expire Sept. 30.

“A committee should never be a debate but rather the opportunity to discuss differentiating ideas and come to a conclusion,” said Manuel. “It also allows us to bring diverse perspectives to the table.”

The President’s Award recognizes the parish Farm Bureau that excels in membership, advocacy and communications over the past year. LFBF President Jim Harper presented the award to Vermilion Parish Farm Bureau President Bryan Simon Thursday night at the New Orleans Marriott.
